All youths in Kasipul Constituency are set to access job opportunities through Information and Communication Technology (ICT) center services.
Speaking on Monday during the launch of constituency 2018 � 2023 Strategic Plan at the Kasipul NGCDF offices, Kasipul MP, Ong’ondo Were said the initiative was mainly aimed at enabling youths to explore employment opportunities.
According to the constituency Strategic Plan on implementation of development projects, all five wards in Kasipul: West Kamagak, East Kamagak, Central Kasipul, South Kasipul and West Kasipul would each have an ICT centre.
The centers will be equipped with computers connected to internet to enable youth’s access information.
Were expressed concern that many youths were in dire need of ICT services but they lacked gadgets which could enable them access the services.
ICT services are the genesis of economic development of our young people. We want our youths to access online jobs and also information on scholarships and other education services, Were said.
Area youths also expressed optimism that the centers would help them improve their livelihood.
The centers will enable us compete effectively with our counterparts in urban centers. The internet will enable us to do research online and this will empower us, said John Otieno, one of them.
The strategic plan will also include undertaking water projects in public schools with the commodity being used by residents neighbouring the institutions.
Other development areas covered in the plan were tourism, environment conservation, security and sports.
The MP said the plan would be implemented effectively to enable him leave a legacy in the constituency.
He warned NGCDF officials and project management committee members against misuse of funds.
I want us to use funds prudently to enhance achievement of these plans, said Were.
