World athletics body summons Senegal’s Massata Diack

Senegal’s Massata Diack is wanted by the International Athletics Federation over graft-related allegations.Massata’s father Lamin Diack, who retired last August after serving as the IAAF’s president for nearly two decades, is being pursued for corruption.A statement by the IAAF released on December 11, 2015 summoned Massata Diack to “an important” audition on December 18, 2015 at the headquarters of the sporting body.Massata Diack, who headed the marketing department of the organisation will be heard by the ethics commission of IAAF.He will be cross examined over allegations that he influenced a doping case involving Russian athletes.Last month, Massata’s father was charged with corruption and money laundering while he served the body and later disrobed of his honorary membership status at the International Olympics Committee. Lamine Diack believed to be in his eighties is expected to face trial early next year and could be jailed for up to 10 years if found guilty, sources said.
