Police officers at Matunda station in Likuyani Sub County are holding in custody a woman suspected of torching a house belonging to her boyfriend at Kipsangui village in Sango location.
Area location chief, Mrs Fridah Shirengo confirmed the incident which occurred on Monday.
Mrs. Shirengo said the suspect, identified as Eznah Buluma, torched the house after a night of altercation with her lover, Mr David Mayunga.
The report we have indicates that the woman stormed into Mayunga’s house at about 8pm where she picked a quarrel with him, said Shirengo. The suspect and Mayunga have one child. .
She disclosed that a local village elder managed to separate the duo before he walked the suspect to her house, which is less than a kilometre away.
However, the woman allegedly returned to the compound at midnight and set on fire the man’s house, destroying property valued at Sh.100,000.
According to the chief, the man and his two children aged 11 and six years, who were sleeping at time of the incident, managed to escape without injuries.
A combined effort by nyumba kumi members in the village managed to track down the woman who was first handed over to administration police officers at Likuyani post.
We are yet to establishment exact genesis of the problem between the two, said Shirengo, Sub County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO), Mr Bakari Ndzovu said security agencies had launched investigations into the incident.
