A 40 year old man has been arraigned in a Nanyuki Court on Wednesday for allegedly killing his lover after a love went sour.
James Mugambi Njeene could not take a plea after police applied to have him detained for two weeks to allow them conclude investigations.
Mugambi who appeared before Nanyuki Principal Magistrate, Waititu Gichimo is alleged to have murdered, Eunice Kagwiria, 31, at Kanyoni village, Laikipia by chopping off her head. The two were employees of Faraja Court hotel in Meru town.
The deceased was last seen on February 10, 2018 in company of the suspect until her headless body was recovered at Kanyoni in Nanyuki River.
The head was chopped off and the body could not be identified until her fingerprints were taken and also her relatives informed who eventually also identified her.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday in Meru Town and charged with the offence before been arraigned in court.
Peter Nzenya, the Investigating Officer while applying to further hold the accused told the court that beddings, clothing and a mattress were recovered in the suspect’s house in Meru.
Nzenya sought detention of the suspect at Nanyuki police station on the ground that investigations will also be conducted in Meru, Embu and Nakuru.
He also told the court that some relatives of the deceased who learnt of her death one month later are yet to be traced.
The matter was set for mention on March 28, 2018 for further direction from the court.
