A middle aged woman was on Thursady arraigned before a Kiambu Court to face charges of breaking into a building and stealing property worth 168,800 Shillings at Kamayo estate of Kasarani.
Naomi Wanjiku appeared before Kiambu Principal Magistrate Justus Kituku charged that on the night of 28th and 29th of June 2018, at Githurai 44 in Kasarani Sub County, with others not before the court broke and entered a shop belonging to Jemimah Wanjiku with intent to steal from therein stole 30 gas cylinder and 3 pairs of shores all valued at 168,800 shillings property of Jemimah Wanjiru.
She faced an alternative charge that on the same day she unlawfully retained 3 pairs of shoes having reason to believe them to be stolen property contrary to section 322 (1)b of the penal code.
She was released on a bond of 100,000 shilling or an alternative cash bail of 70,000 shillings and the case to be further mentioned on 6th day of July 2018 for facts reading
In the same court, two men were arraigned for stealing a motorcycle contrary to section 218 (a) of the penal code.
Morris Muchiri and Francis Kananiki were charged that on 22nd day of June 2018 at Kamao village in Kahawa west location within Nairobi County jointly with other not before the court, stole a motorcycle worth 97,000 shillings property of Jane Wanjiru.
They pleaded not guilty and were released on a bond of 70,000 shillings or a cash bail of 650,000 shillings.
The case will be further mentioned on 16th day of July 2018 and hearing on 10th day of September 2018.The duo could not raise the bond and were whisked to the Kiambu prison remand where they will remanded until their case is heard.
For the prosecution, Mary Ongaki said she had lined up 5 witnesses who were expected to testify against the accused.
