Farmers in Rodi Kopany location in Homa Bay Town constituency are counting losses after an animal suspected to be a hyena attacked and killed their livestock.
The animal killed a total of 27 sheep and goats belonging to Dismas Mboya and Gordon Otieno last night.
During the attack, Mboya claimed he lost 15 sheep and five goats while Otieno said he lost six sheep and a goat.
Speaking to KNA at , the residents said the wild animal has frequently invaded their homes at night.
The animal roams attacking livestock from one home to another in the village leading to huge losses Mboya said.
Otieno said residents were now living in fear following the frequent night attacks by the wild animal.
Residents are forced to be home early for fear of possible attack by the beast Otieno said.
They called for intervention from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to cage the animal and relocate to game reserve.
They also called for compensation from KWS for the losses they have incurred.
