Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi has asked county governments to devolve funds at the grassroots.
He said devolution was meant to take development closer to citizens and not concentrate taxpayers’ money in a few hands.
“I get perplexed when I see a civil servant who works for two months and buys a Prado… Many civil servants in the national government have worked for more than 30 years and are unable to even buy a bicycle,” Wamunyinyi said.
He spoke in Muslim estate, Bungoma town, on Tuesday during a public baraza on the Nyumba Kumi neighbourhood watch.
Wamunyinyi asked Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka’s administration to devolve more money to the wards.
