Wajir women MP sponsors footballer to fly for Hull City trials

Khalid Aganji, a talented footballer from Wajir town is all smiles after being informed that his childhood dream to play in the English Premier league is set to be realised.

This follows a pledge by the Wajir County women representative Fatuma Gedi that she would pay for his air ticket to London besides his other living costs.

Taking into consideration the need to nurture talent among our youth in the County, I would like to pay for Khalid’s ticket to England so that he can attend trials at Hull City football club, Gedi told the media in Wajir town.

Khalid, the prospective premier league’s team mid fielder said the assistance from the Member of Parliament was a big boost and brings a great sigh of relief.

I am very happy and will forever be indebted to Fatuma Gedi, an elated Khalid said, adding that it was a dream come true.

Khalid was picked for trials and interview by Hull City in August last year, but he did not travel to England since he could not afford an air ticket.

The MP said she was moved when she was informed of the opportunity the footballer was about to miss for lack of funds.

I immediately liaised with my staff to ensure that he is facilitated to travel when the trials are due, reiterated the Women representative.

Khalid is set to travel to KCOM stadium, home of English Premier League side Hull City for trials next month.
