Vihiga County Assembly has endorsed appointment of Mr. Francis Ominde as the new County Secretary.
Ominde, a former secondary school teacher and County Secretary for Nandi County government, was overwhelmingly given a clean bill of health during the assembly’s committee of the whole house season on Wednesday.
Members of County Assembly (MCAs) present adopted recommendations by the Appointments Committee, which had vetted the nominee on Monday.
The house absolved Ominde from leadership integrity allegations as raised by some petitioners, who included Mr. Vincent Mahasi and Mr. Phelix Bulimu.
While making his contributions, the assembly’s Majority Leader, Mr. Wycliffe Masini, told the house that issues that were raised by petitioners to block Ominde’s appointment lacked sufficient grounds.
The petitioners have failed to provide convincing reasons for blocking Ominde from becoming County Secretary, noted Masini.
His sentiments were supported by several MCAs, with some of them accusing the petitioners of working on behalf of opponents of Governor Dr. Wilbur Ottichilo.
Ominde’s name was returned to the governor’s office for subsequent gazettement and appointment.
