Victim of polls chaos in Homa Bay County dies

One person died while three others are in critical condition at Homa Bay county teaching and referral hospital following Thursday’s election violence in the region.

Wycliffe Odhiambo, 30, who hails from Sindo town in Suba South Constituency died Friday while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The hospital management said the man succumbed to the injuries he sustained after falling from a moving motorbike.

Speaking to KNA, Homa Bay Hospital Chief Executive Officer Dr. Meshach Liru said the man got serious injuries in his chest.

He said three people with gunshot wounds were still admitted at the hospital adding that one of the patients is in the intensive care unit.

Titus Owuor, 17, was shot in the chest and is to be taken to the theater to have the bullet removed.

He said two victims Alex Aron, 25, and William Coola, 23, will be treated and discharged once they get well.

Meanwhile, nine victims are still undergoing treatment at the hospital with soft tissue injuries. Dr. Liru said the casualties got body injuries from police beatings.

He lamented that the absence of medics at the health institution posed challenges attending to patients.
