Correctional facilities department Principal Secretary Ambassador Richard Ekai has called for coordination between national and county governments to improve lives of citizens.
Speaking during the third term medium term plan preparatory meeting in Lodwar on Monday, Ekai said both governments must work to better lives of Kenyans and urged civil servants to work towards this goal.
We should stop the suspicion and mistrust between national and county governments because we all serve the same Kenyans, he said.
The PS added that both governments should work towards the realization of vision 2030 that the county integrated development plans aim at achieving.
He said the constitution envisions county governments as centres of development and not competitors with national government.
The discovery of oil in Turkana County has made the region key in the realization of vision 2030 which underscores the role of oil and gas in the country’s development.
Although the debate over oil revenue sharing has been a subject of debate in the political circle, participants expressed optimism that the ‘black gold’ would uplift lives of locals.
The third term medium term plan preparatory meetings are being held in all counties this week.
