Hundreds of residents of Nanyuki town flocked Central park ground to welcome UhuRuto Express, a team of sitting Member of Parliament campaigning for reelection of Uhuru Kenyatta.
The team which arrived at the park in the afternoon was led by a convoy of boda boda from Nanyuki adorned in red.
The team led by Jamleck Kamau, Member of Parliament Kigumo constituency in Muranga County urged politicians in Laikipia to conduct their campaigns peacefully.
Our campaign for re-election of our president is peaceful and UhuRuto Express urges you to maintain peace as you do your campaigns, Kamau urged.
Kamau also urged the residents to vote back president Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto for the second term to enable them complete their development projects.
On August 8, we urge you to come out in large numbers to vote for President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto for another term, he observed.
MP John Kihagi of Naivasha condemned the move by NASA to go to court to oppose the IEBC tendering for election materials by Dubai Company Al Ghurair saying this is aimed at derailing election dates.
However he appreciated the statement by Chief Justice David Maranga that pending cases will not derail the date of election.
The team was also accompanied by candidates nominated by Jubilee party and independent candidates in the county.
Other members of UhuRuto Express who were present are Joseph Kiuna of Njoro, Kamande Mwangi (Wambuku) of Makuyu, Ejidius Barua of Gichugu and Esther Gathogo of Ruiru.
They were accompanied by Mary Njoiki Mbugua, the sitting women representative member, Nakuru County.
