Uhuru Joins Drive to Save Elephants

PRESIDENT Uhuru Kenyatta has joined the Elephant Protection Initiative. It is an the African-led conservation programme to eradicate the ivory trade and stop the the slaughter of elephants by poachers.

Speaking at State House on Tuesday, Uhuru urged African countries to move from conserving what is left of nature, but strive to restore it to a better condition.

The initiative was launched by leaders from Botswana, Chad, Ethiopia, Gabon and Tanzania during the London Conference on Illegal Wildlife Trade in February last year.
