Police have arrested two primary school teachers from Isiolo town who are suspected to have links with the members of Al-Shabaab militants.
The security agents caught up with the two suspects on Tuesday evening following a tip-off from members of the public.
The duo is said to be in contact with the militants and police claim they had concrete information about their illegal activities which they could not divulge to journalists.
Isiolo County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO), David Cheruiyot confirmed the arrests adding that police were interrogating the suspects who are aged below 45 years.
Cheruiyot said the suspects have been using their positions as teachers to radicalize the youth.
He was optimistic that investigations would identify whether they had been recruiting young people to join the militia group or not.
The CCIO said the police were also investigating a group of suspects who have been linked to the disappearance of a number of youth from Isiolo.
Cheruiyot said his officers were working closely with the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit in the continuing investigation.
Police identifies Isiolo as one of the recruiting grounds of young people to join the Al-shabaab group.
