Two police officers were killed and three others seriously injured when the vehicle they were travelling in overturned at Ruqa division in Hulugho Sub-county of Garissa County.
Confirming the accident Hulugho sub-county commissioner Mr Siele Kipyegon said the two died instantly while the injured were rushed to Garissa county Hospital on Sunday.
Kipyegon explained that the vehicle was ferrying 11 officers when the accident occurred leaving six of them with minor injuries of which they were treated and discharged.
He said the Land cruiser which was said to be speeding veered off the road and overturned three times.
The accident comes barely a week after five policemen based at Bothai police station were killed by Al-Shabab militia men when they sprayed their vehicle with bullets injuring two others.
The attackers later burnt the Land Cruiser vehicle with a bomb and made away with seven G3 rifles.
The Government has imposed dawn to dusk curfew in Hulugho sub county, Ijara Tana River and Lamu counties in a bid to curb the raids.
