Two men charged with impersonating as county inspectorate officers

Two middle aged men were on Wednesday charged in a Mombasa court with intent to defraud by falsely representing themselves to be Inspectorate Enforcement Officers with the Mombasa County.

Kelvin Kioko and Kesta Mwandawiro were charged before Senior Principal Magistrate, Charles Ndegwa that on the 6th March 2018 at Mwembe Tayari Modern Coast Bus Office in Mombasa the duo impersonated County staff contrary to the law.

The two accused took the advantage of the situation and they tried to defraud the people around the place.

Police officers from Central Police Station were informed and they arrested the two suspects who were later remanded at Central Police Station.

They both pleaded not guilty as charged and they were released on a Bond of Sh. 50, 000 each or a Cash Bail of Sh. 20, 000.

The next hearing will be on 12th March 2018.
