Two people died on sunday night after the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a road accident at Mabanga on the Webuye � Malaba highway.
Confirming the incident, Bungoma South OCPD David Kirui said two passengers in a Toyota matatu died on the spot after a lorry that was heading to Webuye rammed into their vehicle that was heading to Bungoma town last night.
Kirui added that four other passengers were seriously injured and were rushed to Bungoma County Referral hospital adding that bodies of the deceased were taken to Bungoma County Referral Hospital mortuary for identification and postmortem.
The OCPD said the driver of the lorry escaped and police were looking for him.
He appealed to drivers and all road users to be careful on the roads to prevent more road accidents.
