Two boys drowned while swimming in a dam in Amagoro village, Waitaluk ward in Trans Nzoia County on Friday.
The County Director of Disaster Management, Mr. Ronald Masindano said the Red Cross has early Saturday dispatched a team of divers and rescuers to retrieve the bodies from the dam.
Mr. Masindano said that the deceased went to swim in the dam at about 7 pm when the tragedy happened.
Meanwhile Mr. Masindano has urged the county government to improve security around the 20 water dams in the county in order to stem frequent cases of people drowning in them.
He said more than 15 lives have been lost in recent years in dams around the county.
“If the dams had perimeter fences, these tragedies could have been avoided,” Mr. Masindano argued.
