The Turkana Governor, Josphat Nanok has launched a shs. 270 million bursary kitty that will benefit needy students in secondary schools, colleges and universities in the county.
The Governor said that the Sh.134million fund launched is half of the Sh.270million set aside for bursaries in this financial year.
Let students apply for the bursaries as funds are now available. I urge the allocation committee to fast-track the process, let it begin from next Monday and be completed within the week, he said.
The Governor also asked heads of schools to allow students to attend classes as the allocation was being completed.
The CECM for Education, Sports and Social Protection, Patrick Losike promised that the allocation process in all the 30 wards will be hurried especially for applicants who had submitted their applications forms, with the deadline set for 27th of this month.
Also present to witness the launch were the Deputy Governor, Peter Lotethiro, County Secretary, Peter Eripete, CECMs Robert Loteleng’o (Finance and Economic Planning), Benson Lokwang’ (Infrastructure, Transport and Public Works) and Chief Officer for Finance, Ariko Namoit among a host of other senior County Government officials.
