Nyeri County government has finally completed the renovation of Mudavadi Market in Nyeri town and over 70 traders have started operating in it.
The market has new roofing and a new floor which is the first refurbishment since it was constructed 61 years ago.
Speaking at the market on Monday, Nyeri Governor, Mutahi Kahiga applauded the move saying that traders could now enjoy operating their business under the improved conditions.
The Governor said the traders would be able to work until late in the evening since the market has been connected to electricity.
The refurbishment of the market was started by the former County Government over three years ago.
The Governor emphasized that the traders, their committee members and the County Government of Nyeri officers must join hands and ensure that all those who were initially in the market got their slots back.
The Governor was accompanied to the market by CECs Diana Kendi (Trade), Muthui Kariuki (Infrastructure), Henry Kinyua (Agriculture) and Fredrick Kinyua (Environment) and Trade Chief Officer, Adan Eden among others.
