Traders in Soi South ward, Keiyo South sub county have lost property worth millions of shillings after a fierce fire razed their shops.
According to one of the affected traders Festus Kimweno, the 2.00 am fire burnt 7 buildings.
The area assistant chief Bernard Cherutich said the cause of the fire was yet to be established though the traders suspected it was caused by an electric fault.
The assistant chief said officers from Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) and the police visited the area and had already launched investigations.
Among the businesses destroyed were a posho mill, pool table and shops belonging to different traders.
Kimweno said his shop was one of those destroyed and like his colleagues they lost everything.
He said though the residents came out in large numbers to put out the fire, their efforts did not bear fruit as the fire was spreading very fast.
The traders are now appealing for assistance to start all over again.
