Hundreds of revelers in Lodwar were on Sunday night treated to entertainment by top East African artists among them Jose Chameleon, Sauti Sol and gospel artists Bahati as they ushered in the New Year.
The event dubbed Chomoka night was organised by the Turkana south legislator James Lomenen, and is to be held annually.
Speaker of the Senate Ekwe Ethuro, Turkana county women Representative Joyce Emmanikor and the ministry of sports Prinipal Secretary Richard Ekai also attended the event.
Ethuro commended Lomenen for supporting the youth by nurturing their talent.
Ethuro hailed the event as being in line with the constitution for championing the culture of the community.
Sports principal Secretary Richard Ekai said the event had helped the youth to get exposure and nurture their talent.
Ekai called for support of the initiative.
Lomenen dismissed allegations that the event was political saying it was in line with his manifesto of empowering the youth.
“This event is meant to expose our youth and help them rise to the national stage. I have not used CDF to fund this event” said Lomenen.
