Todonyang Chief killed and his gun stolen

A Chief in Turkana county has been killed by suspected bandits from a neighbouring country.

Government sources told KNA that the Chief, Ekai Lochomin of Todonyang location was Monday evening gunned down by suspected Merille bandits from neighbouring Ethiopia.

The Turkana County Police Commander, Ronald Opili confirmed the incident which took place at 4pm in Todonyang.

He said the attackers also made away with the chief’s gun

The murdered chief was alone when he was attacked.

We have issued an alert to the security officers to ensure the members of the Merille community and those of the Turkana community do not cross the border with Ethiopia to avoid further bloodshed , said the county police boss.

The incident comes barely a month after another attack that left six members of the Turkana community dead in the hands of the suspected Merilles in Todonyang.
