Three back Mung’aro for governor

Three leaders in Kilifi county at the weekend began campaigns for Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro’s governor bid, barely a week after the legislator declared his interest.

Ganze MP Peter Shehe, politician Paul Katana from Kaloleni and Mijikenda Youth Forum chairman Nyonga wa Makemba voiced their support for Mung’aro, who is also the Coast Parliamentary Group chairman.

Speaking separately, the three praised Mung’aro for declaring publicly that he would vie for governor in 2017.

Shehe said Mung’aro is poised to be the best governor because he has experience in politics and leadership, having been Malindi mayor and legislator for two decades.

He spoke at Bamba town.

“We need to back Mung’aro as Kilifi residents because he has shown his prowess in leadership with maximum cooperation from local leaders. This is our choice,” Shehe said.

Speaking in Mariakani, Katana said: “Time has come to have an alternative leader to steer Kilifi county to greater heights in development. Mung’aro can deliver.”
