Terror suspect, Ikrima Mohammed Shoshi was on Friday arraigned before a Mombasa Law Court though no charges were preferred against him following investigator’s request that the Court grant 15 days for investigations to be fully carried out.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday near the popular Casablanca Day and Night Club following a massive and intense police manhunt for the most wanted terror suspects in Mombasa county.He was arrested by CID at around 3:00 AM near the nightclub precincts.
According to an affidavit presented before Senior Principal Magistrate C.M Njagi, Ikrima Mohammed Shoshi was arrested in connection with being a member of the outlawed Al Shabaab group, harboring known and wanted fugitives.
He is also linked with the killing of an Intelligence Officer in Mombasa’s Bondeni area,as well a string of robberies.
The prosecution requested the Court to delay the plea hearing in order for conclusive investigations to be carried out.
“The police should be allowed to interrogate the suspect who we believe has vital information that could lead to further arrests”, Chief Inspector Peter Mangiti stated.
Njagi ruled that the police could detain the suspect for 15 days and scheduled the next hearing for January 23, 2015.
