Four suspected Al shabaab accomplices were arrested in Ijara and handed over to anti-terror police based in Garissa after investigations showed that they had a helping hand in various attacks to multi agency operations currently going on in Ijara and Hulugho sub county.
According to Ijara sub county police boss, Emmanuel Rono, the suspects were seven but three were released after the investigations.
Rono confirmed the four would be arraigned in court once investigations were completed.
He said the suspects were allegedly working secretly with Al shabaab militia who were operating in Boni forest.
There was serious security problems in Ijara and Hulugho area especially in Bobtat, Tumtish and Sangailu area in Hulugho Sub County.
Recently, five KDF officers were killed and seven injured when a lorry they were travelling in exploded on impact with an improvised explosive device planted on the road between Bothai in Ijara and Lamu County.
He said the militia attempted to bomb the recently built Safaricom mast in Ijara but were repulsed by combined efforts by Kenya police reserve and rapid deployment units of the police.
Rono commended the residents for giving timely information to the multi-agency operations currently operating in the region.
