Nairobi County is expected to experience sunny intervals on Wednesday in the morning and moderate showers over several places in the afternoon and night.
From tomorrow, Thursday, May 17 to Sunday May 20, sunny intervals are also expected in the morning but in the afternoon showers of moderate intensity might occur over few places.
Giving the forecast for the period starting today to Tuesday May 22, and also a review of the last one week, County Director Meteorological Service (CDMS), Mary Kilavi added that on Monday May 21 and Tuesday 22, the County is likely to experience morning rains over few places and moderate to heavy showers in the afternoon over several places
is likely to occur especially on Monday and Tuesday when the rainfall is expected to be heavier and traffic flow might be disrupted during heavy downpours, she said.
The last one week, Kilavi said the County experienced moderate to heavy showers on Monday and Friday last week and also on Sunday and Monday this week at various locations.
Saturday was however, mainly sunny as had been forecast, she added noting that Ngong station received the highest total rainfall of 126mm followed by Dagoretti (123.8mm), and Kabete (109mm) during the period.
The Eastern parts of the County, Kilavi added received less rainfall and Day time temperatures averaged at 24.80C and 20.7 0C at JKIA and Ngong respectively.
Overall the rains in the Country are continuing to cause havoc, with the government warning those living in the Riparian lands to move to safer grounds.
Yesterday, Energy Cabinet Secretary, Charles Keter confirmed that hydroelectric power stations on Tana River were overflowing and may cause floods that will affect communities downstream.
