State issue motorbikes to Chiefs in the county to curb insecurity

The national government has distributed 46 motorbikes to all chiefs in Tharaka Ninthi county in a bid to beef up security and improve performance of the administrators.

Speaking during the flagging off of 16 bikes to chiefs in Chuka/Igambang’ombe constituency on Friday, area County Commissioner (CC), Florence Amoit said the government is committed to facilitate every security officer to enhance security at grassroots.

She cautioned the chiefs against misusing the government facilities in their private duties but rather make use of the 179 cc motorbikes to fully engage in fight against crime such as selling illicit brews and robbery.

“I call on the residents to co-operate with law enforcers to ensure reduction of crime. The motorbikes should also be used by assistant chiefs because they are meant for facilitating all government officers”, Ms Amoit noted.

Area MP, Muthomi Njuki thanked the government which he insisted is determined to curb insecurity throughout the country by distributing the essential motorcycles to enhance flexibility and mobility of security officers.

The legislator handed over two trophies to the CC which will be awarded to the best performing chief and assistant chief after an evaluation at the end of each year of his (MP’s) remaining term in office.

“County Commissioner with her team will carry out an evaluation to determine the best performing officer who will be awarded in January 2017 to motivate other officers in their service delivery to our people”, the lawmaker said.
