Sonko Sues Nairobi Over Thika Road Jam

NAIROBI Senator Mike Sonko wants the High Court to order Nairobi county and the Transport Cabinet Secretary to remove bumps and rumble strips on Thika Superhighway.

Sonko asked the court to order the removal at the Survey of Kenya, Homeland, and on the way to Kenya Breweries, as they cause traffic jams during rush hour.

The senator, through lawyer Harrison Kinyanjui, asked the court to visit specific areas on the highway to witness the congestion, as it cannot be demonstrated in an affidavit or using photographs. Sonko said he wants pedestrians to use footbridges to reduce traffic jams. The case will be heard on August 26.
