A 67 year old man was brutally murdered by his son in Mghange Nyika village on Wundanyi following a domestic dispute on Saturday evening.
The deceased Wilmot Mwawasi, is said to have been struck several times in the head with a crowbar after a dispute whose origin is yet to be established.
Villagers found his lifeless body in his house and promptly alerted the area assistant chief who reported the matter to the police.
Confirming the incident, County Police Commander Fred Ochieng said the deceased’s son, aged 24, has been arrested in connection with the murder.
The suspected murder weapon, a crowbar, was also recovered from the scene.
We have launched investigations into this matter and hope to get to its bottom, he said.
The body which had deep injuries on the forehead was moved to Wesu sub-county mortuary for postmortem.
The suspect will be arraigned in court on Monday to answer charges of murder.
The police boss urged the members of public especially young people to avoid violence as a means of finding solutions and embrace dialogue instead.
At the same time, police in Voi recovered a body of a man who hanged himself three days ago at Tanzania village in the outskirts of Voi town.
It is said the man left a suicide note whose contents were not immediately made public.
The body was taken to St. Joseph Shelter of Hope Ikanga mortuary awaiting post mortem.
A probe has been launched into the death.
