Six men from Laikipia North were Tuesday arraigned in court after they were found in possession of three AK47 rifles.
Lereiyo Lekiale, Nangoye Lenawaso, Lepunyaki Lekaaso, Munyeris Lekupanae, Nkaaka Lepeta and Tubula Lemoljok were arrested last week on suspicion of murdering Lmare wan Lesondongera at Olmalo Ranch in Laikipia North.
Lesondongera was a security officer at the said Ranch and it is suspected the accused killed the deceased in the process of stealing livestock.
The six were not allowed to take plea as Octavious Waweru, Investigating Officer filed an affidavit for their detention for 14 days at Doldol police station to allow completion of investigation.
Waweru also noted in his affidavit that detention will enable the recovered firearms and spent cartridges to be taken to ballistics for examination.
The prayer by the investigating officer will allow him to trace witnesses, enable postmortem to be conducted and also the suspects be escorted to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral hospital for psychiatrist examination.
Waititu Gichimu, Nanyuki Principal Magistrate granted the request and the matter will be mentioned on November 13, 2017.
