The Siaya county Assembly has suspended Central Gem MCA Fred Ouda for three weeks after he stripped in protest over a tweet from a parody account associated to Deputy President William Ruto.
The Power and Privileges Committee led by the deputy speaker Stephen Kadera made the recommendation that Ouda be suspended for two weeks from attending the assembly proceedings and committee sittings.
The report elicited debate with a section of Assembly members terming it as premature recommendation and they wanted Ouda to be suspended for three months while others were suggesting for two weeks.
The debate divided the Assembly Members leading to a voting where the majority decided that Fred Ouda be suspended for three weeks minus his allowance and privileges within the specified period.
County Assembly speaker George Okode said Ouda will have to abide by the ruling of the house and he would not be allowed around the assembly premises.
Okode while addressing the assembly on Thursday, added that the MCA will be required to apologize to the Assembly immediately he returns after the suspension.
The suspended MCA Fred Ouda who was addressing the press after the suspension welcomed the ruling but maintained the he will not allow anybody to tarnish the former PM Raila Odinga’s name despite the assembly decision.
Ouda is now facing the second Assembly disciplinary punishment after he faced similar action when he attacked and fought MCA for Yimbo East Elisha Okuku last year in the assembly chambers.
