A 40-year-old woman has been fined by a Narok court Sh.120, 000 or serve ten months in jail after she pleaded guilty to being in illegal possession of alcohol.
Pascalia Moraa had appeared before Narok Chief Magistrate Ms. Wilbroda Juma charged that on October 11, 2017 in Narok town, she was found in possession of 80 litres of changaa which was unlawfully packed in plastic bottles with no label of a health warning to the public as required by the law.
The court was told security personnel led by the local administration carried out a raid in the area where they found the accused having hidden the illicit brew in her house.
Sentencing the accused, the magistrate said the accused had negated the government efforts in combating illicit brews which have destroyed hundreds of lives.
