Senegal hosts West Africa wrestling festival

A three-day wrestling tournament of West African countries opened Friday evening in Dakar, Senegal.
The all-men seventh edition of the event is being organised by the Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas).
Host Senegal, winner of five of the six editions, is being touted as the potential winner again this year.
Nigeria, winner of the 2009 edition, and finalist Niger, are also competing in the tournament this year.
Wrestlers will compete in individual and team categories.
Thirteen of the 15 Ecowas member countries are taking part in the tournament. They are: Senegal, Burkina Faso, Benin, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Sierra Leone and Togo.
Côte d’Ivoire and Cape Verde, who have never participated in the event, are the two Ecowas members who are absent.
