Residents urged to register as voters

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission ( IEBC) elections coordinator for Kieni constituency in Nyeri county has expressed concern over voter apathy displayed in the constituency.

Speaking to KNA Tuesday in his office, the IEBC election coordinator William Wambugu said only 1000 voters had registered so far out of the Kieni constituency target of 64,000 voters.

Wambugu appealed to area residents to register in large numbers.

He is however optimistic that adequate mobilization of voters will be done during the ward based registration exercise which starts from February to improve the target.

He assured residents that recruitment of voter registration assistants at ward levels will be transparent once the exercise started.
