Business along Kisii Migori route was on Monday paralysed for hours after Nyabigege residents in South Mogirango, Kisii County protested killings of two guards by armed thugs last week.
The demonstrators decried the Thursday night killings by suspected police officers.
This was after an Administration Police jacket and regular police beret were recovered from the scene.
The residents accused police in the area of complicity in the murder and asked Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS), Dr. Fred Matiang’i to intervene to hasten investigations into the killings.
Bodies of the duo were found riddled with bullet wounds and are yet to be buried.
Led by former area ward representative, Daniel Apepo, the residents said they would not bury the bodies till culprits were arrested and prosecuted.
They demanded action from the government before burial saying they would storm the police post in the area if their grievance was not met.
Apepo accused the security agencies of dragging their feet in carrying out investigations and described the killing of the duo as painful and a loss to the community.
The residents called for arrest of the masterminds and transfer of AP officers at Nyagenchenche whom he accused of lethargy.
Apepo accused the officers of keeping busy chasing drunkards in the villages as goons killed innocent people in the area.
The Gucha South Deputy County Commissioner, James Wambua promised quick investigations into the incident and urged for calm.
He said that police had commenced investigations and promised a reshuffle of Administration Police officers as requested.
