Residents petition MCAs to support Governor Ngilu

Mwingi residents on Tuesday petitioned members of the county assembly to support Kitui County Governor Charity Ngilu in a bid to realise accelerated economic development.

Speaking to the press in Mwingi, the residents led by Peter Musyoka, Chairman of Mwingi Youth Development Forum said political bickering will derail the realisation of the county’s vision.

Musyoka urged the people’s representatives to remain focused in their quest to fight poverty, disease and illiteracy by supporting Governor Ngilu.

Governor Ngilu’s clarion call has been the urgent need to support communities to become self-reliant, build their resilience and rise from the shackles of poverty, said the chairman.

Speaking while referring to the treacherous path Makueni County endured for five years, Mwangu Matiti said such wrangles will not be tolerated in the county assembly.

If need be, we shall collect signatures to recall those MCAs who will be sabotaging Governor Ngilu’s administration. I can assure you that very few will make it back to the assembly, he disclosed.

He urged the elected leaders to rally behind the governor in order to ensure that the county comes among the best performers nationally.

Matiti asked the elected leaders to champion the ‘ndengu revolution initiative’ to ensure food security is realised across the county.

A member of Mwingi Youth Development Forum Ruth Mutune said political support for Governor Ngilu was critical, adding that a divided assembly will not spur economic development.

We urge the county assembly to work in cooperation with the county government, pass bills and enact legislation geared towards uplifting the livelihoods of wananchi in the county, said Mutune.
