Preparations for this year’s National Madaraka Day Celebrations to be held in Nyeri’s Dedan Kimathi grounds are complete.
At the venue where over Shs. 70 million has been spent for an upgrade, workers were seen putting final touches to ensure a successful and colorful event set to be presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Central Regional Coordinator (RC), Ann Ng’etich assured guests of an array of entertainment put together by the National Celebrations Committee that will include groups such as bands, acrobatic and cultural groups, popular gospel and secular artists as well as parastatals, ministries and company choirs.
There will also be a march past by contingents of uniformed service men and women and schoolchildren that will be followed by a fly-past by Kenya Air force.
The RC assured guests of their security, saying they had put security agencies on high alert and deployed to ensure wananchi enjoy all the thrills of the occasion undisturbed.
Speaking Tuesday during a press briefing at the venue, Ms. Ng’etich, added that visitors will thereafter be treated to an entertaining football match between Kenya Premier League winners Gor Mahia F.C and Nyeri Combined Team.
She urged all Nyeri residents being the hosts of the event to turn up in large numbers in the spirit of patriotism and to showcase their hospitality to the visitors.
The National celebrations have been brought closer to you. It is the best moment to showcase your hospitality, said the RC.
She added that arrangements had been made to cater for normal traffic with minimal interruption as possible as motorists were urged to cooperate with traffic police providing guidance.
She further added that all entries to the venue had been clearly marked and National Youth Service guides will be available to usher-in guests at every point and parking areas reserved for each category.
