Police in Nyamira are investigating an incident where fire burnt down a school dormitory at Misambi Secondary school in North Mugirango Sub-county.
The fire broke out at around 8.00 pm Monday when students were doing their evening studies and no fatalities were reported.
The burnt dormitory houses around 120 students, but efforts by firefighters from Nyamira county government to contain the fire were futile.
Nyamira North OCPD, Robert Kipsum confirmed the incident, saying the cause of the fire was yet to be established.
He however said police were already on the ground to establish the cause of the fire, and urged the public to avoid speculations that may hinder investigations but volunteer information they believe will help identify what caused the fire.
The Misambi school fire is the secondto hit Nyamira County, after another fire razed down a dormitory at RioogaHigh School in Masaba North district, in August.
Meanwhile, the police boss has asked students to remain calm and concentrate in their studies.
