A family in Malindi town has called on the government through the department of criminal investigation to reveal the whereabouts of their 23 year old son who was alleged to have been kidnapped by police officers in Watamu one week ago.
Speaking to the press in Malindi on Sunday, the family spokesperson, Mohamed Mahamoud Shide has threatened to go to court if the government fails to bring his brother back.
My brother was working at a shop in Watamu when seven armed men who we believe to be police jetted in the shop and claimed to be doing an operation of the ongoing illicit sugar saga and disappeared with him, he claimed.
A sister to the missing youth, Ms. Zahara Mahamoud Shide said that her brother has never been implicated in any kind of crime, adding that the police should arraign him in court if he committed any crime instead of hiding him.
Responding, Malindi OCPD, Matawa Muchangi denied the report saying his office has not received information related to that incident.
