Police in Othaya Nyeri County have exhumed body of a boda boda operator which had been buried in a shallow grave.
The deceased, Joseph Githaiga, who was killed under unclear circumstances, hailed from Gatugi area where he also operated from but had been buried on a farm in Munaine just a few kilometers from Othaya town.
An area resident, Patrick Gatheru said the shallow grave was discovered early on Monday following a trail of blood on an access road.
He said with the help of other residents, they followed the trail to an area in the farm that looked to have been freshly dug and after digging, they discovered a shoe and alerted police who dug out the body.
Speaking at the scene, Othaya Divisional Police Commander, Joseph Mwika said preliminary findings by police showed that the man had been stabbed at the back of the head.
He added that the rider could have been killed by people known to him over political campaign money but could not confirm the amount of money in question.
The police boss called on youth to stop being misused by politicians especially during this campaign period.
Boda boda riders, desist from fighting over money. Maybe this is what led to this deed, said Mwika.
He also called on those with any information related to the incident to volunteer it to enable police apprehend the culprits.
