A boda boda cyclist was left with injuries after unknown thugs disguised as passengers tied his body with a rope before dumping him inside Lugari Forest, according to a local administrator.
Confirming the incident to the press, Lugari Sub Location Assistant Chief, Mr. Shadrack Miheso said the victim, whose identity was yet to be established, was transporting a passenger from Lugari market to Makutano market on Friday, but along the way, he stopped to pick a
second passenger who was standing near the forest.
“According to preliminary investigations, the two passengers were actually accomplices,” said Miheso who added that the two turned against the cyclist, tied his boda boda with the rope and dumped him in the forest before disappearing with his one week old motorbike.
Forest guards rushed to the scene, rescued the victim and rushed him to Lugari Dispensary where he received first aid before being discharged.
The assistant chief has cautioned boda boda operators against using forest routes while carrying passengers whose identities they were not familiar with.
He at the same time warned them against carrying more than one passenger, which he noted was in fact against traffic regulations.
