Parents have been urged to ensure their children do not abuse drugs or alcohol. Kiambu TNA coordinator Gladys Chania on Sunday said parents should encourage their children to embrace Christian teachings to keep away from wayward behaviour.
She spoke at Gatundu Catholic Church, where she said children should be taught good morals while they are still young.
“If children are well mentored when they are young, they cannot go astray when they grow up,” Chania said.
She said she is ready to work with the church to change the image of Kianyago village, known for chang’aa brewing.
Chania said the brewing of chang’aa has affected education and has to be stopped.
She said the youth should be engaged in meaningful activities, including farming, to keep away from alcoholism.
