Parents have been flocking shopping malls in Ongata Rongai town in last minute shopping as schools reopen for first term.
A spot check by KNA found long queues of shoppers in all the malls in the area waiting to buy goods.
An attendant in one of the chain stores, Nancy Moraa said shoppers have been purchasing back to school items in large quantities for the last four days.
“This is one of the busy seasons, since we have to attend to many customers as usual,” said Moraa.
Martha Njuguna, a parent, expressed disappointment over the increased prices on school items.
She said parents had resorted to second hand items for their children since the prices in the shops were unaffordable.
