Parents in Kajiado Central have been commended for protecting girls against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and early marriages during the festive season.
Speaking to KNA Monday in his office in Kajiado town, Kajiado Central Sub County Children’s Officer Daniel Mwangi said no FGM cases were reported during the 2015 festive season.
“This is a clear indication that the vice and outlawed practice of endangering the lives of the young girls to go through the cut is fading away,” he said.
Mwangi said the Children’s Office in Kajiado is working together with the security officers to ensure that girls were not subjected to FGM even in secret.
He urged parents to continue protecting girls from early marriages and prioritize education for all.
