Oparanya Says He Will Seek Re-Election Alone

KAKAMEGA Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has said he will campaign alone to retain his seat in 2017.

He said creating teams during campaigns leads to election of wrong people to leadership positions.

Oparanya said such leaders make work difficult for others determined to serve.

He said women’s representative Rachael Ameso disappeared from the ground immediately she was elected.

“I am asking you to thoroughly assess those who present themselves for election before electing them. I don’t see the people I was elected with to steer the county,” Opranya said.

He was speaking during the burial of Meshack Osale in Eshirumba village, Lurambi subcounty, on Monday.

The relationship between Oparanya, Senator Bonny Khalwale and some MCAs has been frosty since their election in 2013.

Khalwale has said he will vie to unseat Oparanya in 2017.
