Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has asked the electorate to shun self-serving and dishonest politicians bent on undermining the people’s resolve to remain faithful and true to the spirit of the constitution.
He called on the residents to exercise restraint, tolerance and patriotism as a way out of the current political impasse in the country.
I am urging fellow citizens to remain vigilant at this time when our nationhood and good governance is under serious threat, he observed during the Mashujaa Day celebrations at Malinya playground.
He appealed to leaders across the political divide to engage in dialogue as well as foster national cohesion.
Mr. Oparanya described as reckless the move to change electoral laws in the middle of electioneering period.
He said he supports the decision by NASA to pull out of the planned October 26 repeat presidential poll until the IEBC gets rid of its tainted officials implicated in the bungled August 8 election.
He said all contentious issues must be addressed before the people go to the poll.
