A lorry that was delivering relief food to Galmagala Division Hulugho Sub County in Garissa county was on Monday morning struck by an al-Shabaab Improvised Explosive Device (IED) killing the turn boy and injuring two others.
The injured were rushed to Garissa provincial hospital for specialised treatment while the two others who were in the same lorry were treated for minor injuries.
The Hulugho Sub County Commissioner, Tom Siele said the incident happened at Sabenal area in Sangole within Hulugho Sub County.
Siele said the lorry had delivered relief food from Kenya Red Cross to Galmagala town and was attacked with an IED planted on the road while heading back to Garissa at Sabenal area completely destroying the lorry on impact.
He appealed to residents to be very vigilant and report suspicious characters to authorities, in time for the security apparatus to handle any emerging security risks.
Sometimes in June, militia ambushed a police land rover using an IED killing five policemen in Bothai area within Hulugho Sub County.
