No need for boundary dispute

Boundary disputes between Elgeyo Marakwet and Baringo counties should not arise as Kerio River serves as the natural boundary for the two regions.

Elgeyo Marakwet Governor, Alex Tolgos was reacting to claims by Baringo county administration that its boundaries stretches one kilometre inside Rimoi national game reserve which is set to be launched on Friday by Tourism Cabinet Secretary, Najib Balala

The governor told a security meeting in Rimoi on Tuesday that the area along the Rimoi national game reserve has been gazzetted as a reserve in both counties with animals moving freely in the area.

Addressing the meeting, the area County Commissioner, Fredrick Ndambuki said the government will beef up security along the boundary to maintain peace.

The area Member of County Assembly, Christopher Cheboiboch appealed to the national government to deploy enough security personnel to avoid any conflict between the two governments.
