The Non- Governmental Organization Council of Kenya has called upon the government and University Lecturers to urgently reach an agreement on the salary issue to enable the public institutions continue with their programmes.
The NGOs Council Chairman, Stephen Cheboi said the on-going strike has paralyzed learning in the public universities thereby causing untold suffering to the students.
We are calling on both parties to avoid hard stand as it will not help the issues at hand, said Cheboi
In a press statement sent to newsrooms on Wednesday, the Chairman noted that disruption of learning in the institutions was affecting many people and in particular parents, guardians, administrators, students and the country.
We appreciate the efforts that have so far been put by stakeholders on the same as we call for more concerted efforts that will end the strike, he added.
